RETIREMENT

Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS) Pension Program

A retirement plan may be one of the most valuable benefits of employment. It can deliver a long-term impact on your financial well-being. The Nixa Fire District is extremely proud of our retirement program chosen by the NFPD Board, which is 100% paid by the District. This plan is non-contributory and requires no employee contribution. The District contributes the full rate designated by LAGERS of the employees' gross wage. LAGERS is a defined benefit retirement plan, a traditional pension. LAGERS provides permanent, protected and guaranteed benefits for a lifetime of the LAGERS eligible member. Employees are vested after 5 years and service time in the plan may travel with the member to other public employers in Missouri. There is a 6 month waiting period (one time). Nationwide Deferred Compensation Plan (457(B)

Deferred compensation plans are designed for state, municipal employees, as well as employees of some tax-exempt organizations. This voluntary plan allows employees to defer wages directly from their paycheck, pre-tax, to a retirement account. That money and any earnings you accumulate are not taxed until you withdraw them. The District contributes a flat match of $20.00 per pay periods when an employee contributes at least $20.00 per pay period. Click here to learn more about Nationwide 457-b Plan.
